Features Gifted Visual Artists with Disabilities from Award Winning Kaleidoscope Magazine
AKRON, OH (April 19, 2008) – Creativity knows no boundaries as United Disability Services and the Akron Art Museum present “Creativity Transcends!,” an exhibition of work created by gifted artists with disabilities.
The diverse collection of art is being exhibited in the Corbin Gallery of the museum from April 19-July 13, 2008. The title, “Creativity Transcends,” conveys the concept that it is both inaccurate and limiting to define a person solely by their disability.
This exhibition features a selection of works by nine visual artists that have been featured in the award-winning Kaleidoscope: Exploring the Experience of Disability through Literature and the Fine Arts, as well as museums and galleries across the country.
The Akron Art Museum is located at 701 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio. It is open Tuesday to Sunday 11 am to 5 pm and Thursday 11 am to 9 pm, but is closed Monday. For more information, visit the Akron Art Museum website at www.akronartmuseum.org or call 330-376-9185.
