Pet Lodging Facility in Mentor Becomes First in Ohio and One of 10 in USA to Meet Strict PCSA Certification Criteria
MENTOR, OHIO (June 7, 2010) – TLC Pet Lodge, pet lodging and grooming facility located in Mentor, attained the highest industry accreditation with the Gold Ribbon Certificate of Accreditation from the Pet Care Services Association (PCSA).
“We’re honored to be the first pet lodging facility in Ohio to be awarded with the highest level of distinction,” said Marj Green-Beyer, Manager of TLC Pet Lodge. “Our customers know the care we have for each owner’s pet, but we’re delighted to also be nationally recognized for our high level of pet care and facility management.”
The strict accreditation program from the PCSA contains over 250 standards in 17 separate areas of pet care facility operations, management, and customer service as well as an on-site inspection. Accredited facilities are re-evaluated every three years in order to maintain their accreditation.
Until this new level of accreditation was established, TLC Pet Lodge was only one of three facilities in the state of Ohio that had achieved the Blue Ribbon Certificate of Accreditation. Founded in 1977, the Pet Care Services Association, formerly the American Boarding Kennels Association, has more than 3,000 members in the pet care service business.
Facilities Manager Marj Green-Beyer is well known throughout the industry for her education and achievements. The only Certified Kennel Operator (CKO) in Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties with an accredited facility, she is has completed the Solving Canine Behavior Problems continuing education program from the Animal Behavior Clinic at Cornell University, was named with the Best Groomed Dog Award at the 2006 HH Backer Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show in Chicago, and was selected for the Level II Difficulty Award for terriers at the 2007 Groom Expo in Hershey, PA.
