Arisdyne Systems’ Retrofit Equipment Reduces HERO BX Catalyst Consumption by 25%

ERIE, PA and CLEVELAND, OH (April 26, 2012) – The Arisdyne Systems cavitation process has allowed biodiesel producer HERO BX to reduce catalyst consumption by over 25% and contributed to the reduction of monoglycerides, since its installation at their plant.

“HERO BX and Desmet Ballestra worked together with Arisdyne to test Arisdyne’s cavitation process. After two months of testing, we proved that the technology demonstrated significant cost savings, streamlined operations and improved overall output of biodiesel at our plant,” said John Schenker, plant manager of HERO BX.

Cavitation’s extremely high shear forces accelerate and optimize biodiesel reactions within current plant configurations. This contributes to increased reaction capacity with minimal electrical demand and without degrading downstream process capacities.

Arisdyne’s patented Controlled Flow Cavitation (CFC) process generates intense energy peaks in the form of extreme shear forces, resulting in nano-sized droplets. This enables optimum mass transfer for instantaneous transesterification, the chemical term for biodiesel production, which leads to greater catalyst savings.

Arisdyne’s system is easily installed without the need for production shut down, saving about three weeks of production output.

“In today’s weak economic conditions, margin improvement is everything,” said Dr. Peter Reimers, president and CEO of Arisdyne. “CFC can be applied to the entire value chain for Oleochemical processes starting with yield enhancement in the refining/degumming step and now as well in biodiesel catalyst savings. Biodiesel producers are faced with uncertain industry policy. Having catalyst savings and yield improvements in degumming, neutralization of crude oils is crucial to the oils and fat processing industries.”

About HERO BX
HERO BX is a dba of Lake Erie Biofuels, LLC which started operations in 2007 and is Pennsylvania’s first large-scale biodiesel production facility. A fully accredited BQ-9000 producer of biodiesel, the company is the leading producer of biodiesel in the Northeastern United States. Its on-site laboratory for ASTM D6751 testing guarantees its biodiesel surpasses all accepted industry standards for performance and quality. For more information, visit www.herobx.com or call 814-528-9200.

About Arisdyne Systems, Inc.
Arisdyne Systems, Inc. is the leading provider of retrofit equipment and value-creating services for vegetable oil refiners, biodiesel, fuel ethanol and biogas producers. Arisdyne specializes in designing small footprint devices that utilize controlled flow hydrodynamic cavitation and applies its cavitation technology to improve biodiesel production, to enhance vegetable oil yields, and to increase efficiency in ethanol, biogas and other fuel production.

SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO (April 26, 2012) – Notre Dame College (NDC) has announced a new benefit for its online RN to BSN degree students: tuition deferment. With many students receiving tuition reimbursement from their employers, the program is being offered in an effort to eliminate the need for students to pay out of pocket and wait to be reimbursed. Under the new deferment program, NDC will provide students taking advantage of employer-provided tuition assistance up to eight weeks to pay for a previous semester’s courses.

“Many top hospitals are now requiring nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Notre Dame College understands the need for flexibility both in course delivery and payment,” said Beth Ford, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at NDC. “While tuition for our online RN to BSN degree is the lowest of any Ohio institution, we recognize that for many students, waiting to be reimbursed for school costs by their employer is still a financial burden. This enables students to complete the training they need without taking out loans or pinching pennies to pay in advance for what will ultimately be covered by their tuition benefits.”

Current and prospective students interested in enrolling in the tuition deferment program should contact Adult Admissions at 216.373.5250 for more information.

“The flexibility that tuition deferment provides is incredibly helpful,” said Carmen Whatley, RN, and an online RN to BSN student at Notre Dame College. “I’m working full time as a nurse and taking care of my family, so the option to earn my BSN entirely online and wait to pay tuition until I’ve been reimbursed by my employer was important. However, what has impressed me the most has been the amazing support my instructors have provided and the sense of community even though I’m learning online.”

Tuition deferment is not the only new enhancement to NDC’s RN to BSN program. Notre Dame College recently revised its transfer credit policies related to the program. NDC will now consider more types of transfer credits in an effort to remove barriers for students who have graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing, but who would like to advance their education and pursue their BSN. Additionally, NDC is also one of the few schools to offer a completely online RN to BSN program. Because RN to BSN students have already passed a state licensing exam and have demonstrated proficiency in a clinical environment, NDC does not require students to complete additional in-hospital clinical training during the program.

“Our all-online format is a nod to our students’ skill level,” said Beth Ford. “For students like ours that already have significant clinical experience, requiring more clinical training would be a redundant exercise and an unnecessary expense. Instead we prefer to devote time to the courses that develop the leadership, management and critical thinking skills students need to advance in their career.”

For more information about Notre Dame College or its online degree programs, visit online.notredamecollege.edu. In addition to the online RN to BSN degree, NDC offers several other online programs as well, including a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.), a Master of Arts in Security Policy and Teacher Education Evening Licensure (TEEL).

ABOUT NOTRE DAME COLLEGE
Notre Dame College, a Catholic institution in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, educates a diverse population in the liberal arts for personal, professional and global responsibility. NDC offers bachelor’s degrees in 30 disciplines plus interdisciplinary programs and self-designed majors. A master’s degree in education and a teacher certification program are available as well as continuing and professional development programs for adult learners. Notre Dame College offers 22 athletic programs for men and women, including football.

AKRON/CANTON, OHIO (April 17, 2012) According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, outdoor allergies affect more than 35 million people in the United States. The mild winter, low precipitation and early spring has wreaked havoc on previously diagnosed allergy sufferers and has increased the number of new patients with allergy symptoms.

“Right now, tree pollen is what’s out,” says Dr. Samuel Friedlander, an allergy specialist at University Hospitals Case Medical Center when interviewed for a Cleveland Plain Dealer article. “And the levels are very high — some of the highest we’ve seen in a long time.”

Spring cleaning your home can offer allergy sufferers’ much needed relief. Spring cleaning actually reduces symptoms, especially if you are allergic to dust mites, mold and animal dander.

Maid Brigade offers four tips to allergy sufferers’ to help rid their home of allergens for good:

1. Don’t let the bed bugs bite. To get rid of dust mites that might be lurking in your bed sheets, wash your bed linens in 130 degree water weekly. The hot water will kill the mites. Remember to wash the decorative pillows and stuffed animals in hot water every 1-2 weeks.

2. Use microfiber cloths. Try not to dust with cotton cloths because they can spread particles around on surfaces which sends them back into the air. Use microfiber cloths instead. They trap dust and remove dust mite allergen that accumulates on hard surfaces.

3. The right vacuum cleaner. Buy a vacuum cleaner with a hard-shell container or a bag vacuum with a HEPA filter. HEPA filters prevent smaller particles from blowing back out.

4. Bathroom cleaning tip. To remove bathroom mold, use a solution of borax and water.

Spring cleaning a home from top to bottom is a big job. If you are not up to the task of cleaning because of your allergies, hire someone to do your spring cleaning. Maid Brigade house cleaning services can clean your house in a couple of hours!

With the name change to DFA, the role of the organization as a leader in economic development will be better understood by potential clients, partners and the public.

“We’re excited that the name change is complete and the new name describes how we have now evolved into the Development Finance Authority,” said Patricia McKay, Chairman of the DFA. “Our new name more accurately describes and reflects the organization’s focus on economic development.”
